Magonjwa yasiyo ya kuambukiza ni kama ya moyo na mishipa ya damu, figo, saratani, kifua sugu, kisukari, magonjwa ya akili na mengine ya kurithi kama vile ugonjwa wa  Kwa mujibu wa taarifa ya Mfuko wa Bima ya Afya, athari ya magonjwa yasiyoambukiza ni mara nne zaidi ya watu waliopo mijini kuliko vijijini, huku asilimia 12.8 ya wanaougua wakiwa wako mijini na asilimia 3.1 wako vijijini kutokana na mfumo wa maisha. Uchunguzi mwingine uliofanywa na jopo la madaktari bingwa kuanzia mwaka 2011 hadi 2014 ulibaini asilimia 79 ya watanzania wazee waligundulika kuugua magonjwa ya kisukari, macho na shinikizo la damu.
